Get Your Merchant Credentials
Create the key your booking page needs to save a customer’s card — about 5 minutes
Your booking page saves each new customer’s card to your own merchant account, the same one Field Routes bills. To do that it needs your merchant credentials. You create them yourself in the Field Routes merchant portal (or, for some companies, an NMI gateway portal); there is no need to wait on a Field Routes rep. Once you have them, enter them in PestBooker — see "Enter Your Merchant Credentials".
Requirements
- A login to the Field Routes merchant portal (merchantportal.fieldroutes.com). This is separate from your regular Field Routes login and usually belongs to whoever set up card processing
- About 5 minutes
How does your company process cards in FieldRoutes?
Not sure? Choose FieldRoutes Payments. It's what most companies use, and step 1 will tell you quickly if it's wrong.
Sign in to the FieldRoutes merchant portal
merchantportal.fieldroutes.comOpen portalThis is a different login from regular FieldRoutes
Your usualyourcompany.pestroutes.comlogin won't work here. The merchant portal login usually belongs to whoever set up card processing, often the owner.Create an API key
- Click Settings, then API Keys.
- Click Add API Key.
- Name it PestBooker, set Status to Active, and set Type to Public.
- Save, then copy the key it shows you.
Settings → API Keys → Add API Key. Pick Public as the Type. Copy your Merchant ID
Click Profile, then Account Information, and copy the Merchant ID.
It’s on a different screen from the API key
The key is under Settings. The Merchant ID is under Profile. If you have several offices, grab each office's Merchant ID.Profile → Account Information. The Merchant ID starts with p1_mer_. You should now have
- API key
a long mix of letters and numbers - Merchant ID
p1_mer_…
- API key

Stuck? Common snags
Still stuck? Email support@pestbooker.com and we'll hop on a quick screen share and do it with you. Please don't email the keys themselves.
Sign in to the Field Routes merchant portal
- Go to merchantportal.fieldroutes.com. This is a different site and login from your regular yourcompany.pestroutes.com Field Routes login.
- Tip
The merchant portal login usually belongs to whoever set up card processing, often the owner. If nobody has one, ask Field Routes support for merchant portal access.
- Tip
If your statements come from Payments Insider (Elavon) or Business Track (Fiserv), your cards run through an NMI gateway instead. Sign in to your NMI gateway portal (often processor-branded; the standard address is secure.nmi.com), go to Settings → Security Keys, click "Add a New Private Security Key" with API permission checked, and copy the 32-character key. That is the only credential NMI needs.
Create an API key
- Click Settings, then API Keys, then Add API Key.
- Name it "PestBooker", set Status to Active and Type to Public, and save.
- Copy the key it shows you. Public is correct: it can save a customer’s card but cannot read your transaction history, so PestBooker’s check will show a yellow "Merchant ID found". That is expected.
- Tip
If you do not see API Keys under Settings, your portal user may not have permission. Have the account owner create the key.
Copy your Merchant ID
- Click Profile, then Account Information, and copy the Merchant ID. It starts with p1_mer_.
- Tip
The Merchant ID is on a different screen from the API key. A p1_mer_ number is the Merchant ID, not the key; you need both.
- Tip
Multiple offices usually have one Merchant ID each, and one API key often covers all of them.
