Your First Booking

Complete walkthrough of the booking flow

Before sharing your booking page with customers, it's important to experience the entire booking process yourself. This hands-on test ensures everything works correctly, helps you understand what your customers will see, and builds confidence in your setup. Plan to spend about 10 minutes walking through this process.

Requirements

  • At least one service tier activated in Dashboard → Services
  • Pest offerings configured (selected pest types you treat)
  • Your booking page link (found in Dashboard → Settings → Booker)
  • A test email address you can access to verify confirmation emails
  • Optional: A mobile device to test the mobile experience

Get Your Booking Page Link

  • In PestBooker, go to Dashboard → Settings → Booker
  • Find your unique booking page URL (looks like: getpestcontrol.services/yourcompany)
  • Copy this link - you'll use it for testing
  • This is the same link you'll share with customers when you go live
  • You can customize the slug (yourcompany part) in the Booker settings if desired

Start a Test Booking

  • Open your booking page link in a new browser tab (or on your phone for mobile testing)
  • Review the landing page - this is your customer's first impression
  • Check that your logo, business name, and branding appear correctly
  • Verify that your active service tiers are displayed (up to 3 tiers)
  • Confirm pest offerings are visible (the pest types you selected)
  • Click 'Book Now' or select a service tier to begin the booking process

Complete the Booking Form

  • Fill out the customer information form with test data (use your own email address)
  • Enter a test name like 'Test Customer' so you can easily identify this booking later
  • Select a service from the available options
  • Choose an available date and time slot for the appointment
  • Add any special instructions in the notes field (test this feature)
  • Review the booking summary before submitting

Submit and Verify Confirmation

  • Click the 'Confirm Booking' or 'Submit' button to complete the booking
  • You should see a confirmation screen with booking details
  • Note the booking confirmation number (if displayed)
  • Check your email inbox for the booking confirmation email (may take 1-2 minutes)
  • Review the confirmation email - this is what your customers will receive
  • Make sure all details are accurate: date, time, service, contact info

Check Your Dashboard

  • Return to your PestBooker dashboard and go to Dashboard → Bookings
  • Look for your test booking in the bookings list
  • Click on it to view full details and verify all information transferred correctly
  • If you have Field Routes connected, log in and verify the booking synced (wait 1-2 minutes)
  • Test the booking management features: view details, update status, add notes

Test on Mobile (Recommended)

  • Open your booking page on a smartphone or tablet
  • Check that the page is mobile-responsive and easy to use
  • Verify that buttons are easy to tap and forms are easy to fill out
  • Test the date/time picker on mobile - it should be touch-friendly
  • Complete another test booking from mobile to ensure the full flow works
  • Most customers book from mobile, so this step is critical

Pro Tips

  • Use your real email address for test bookings so you can verify confirmation emails
  • Mark test bookings clearly (e.g., 'TEST - Delete') so you can identify and remove them later
  • Test during different times of day to see how availability changes
  • Have a friend or family member try booking to get fresh-eyes feedback
  • Take screenshots of the customer experience to use in training materials
  • Delete or cancel test bookings after verifying they work correctly
